Enneagram and Accompaniment

The Enneagram System offers an incisive and intimate look into our inner landscape—what we see, feel, and how we behave.  Each type has its own set of preoccupations, motivations and behaviors.  The Enneagram is a non-judgmental map that describes nine different ego structures.  But it is also a pathway characterized by kindness, compassion, and acceptance that allows us to have a deeper understanding of how we block ourselves from love and from realizing our inherent union with God and others.

In this webinar, we will look into how presence and self-awareness are key ingredients in active listening when accompanying another whether formally (as spiritual directors, guidance counselors, psychotherapists, etc.) or informally (as parents, siblings, friends or colleagues). What does it mean to truly listen to another? What do I need to be aware of so that my type does not get in the way of accompaniment? This is an invitation to wake up from patterns that are self-limiting, to listen to what resonates deep within us and to live authentic lives. How can I be present to myself and to the other in front of me? As St. Augustine puts it: “I cannot be there with you if I cannot be here with me.” We hope each participant will leave the webinar with a clear idea of how to use the Enneagram in accompaniment and when it might be appropriate.
